It is home to a unique breed of freshwater seals and over 50 species of fish. For five hours you wind your way through tunnels along cliff hugging tracks above the lake as your train is pulled by an authentic Soviet steam locomotive. Disembark and travel by boat to the village of Listvyanka, where you can learn about the lake’s flora and fauna at the Lake Baikal Museum and Aquarium. Weather permitting, enjoy a BBQ of smoked Omul fish prepared on the shores of Lake Baikal, a local delicacy. Or, take a hillside hike for spectacular views.
