Namedy Castle, Andernach
On our 15 day Magnificent Europe and 8 day Rhine Treasures river cruises, Princess Heide von Hohenzollern graciously welcomes APT guests exclusively into her home, Namedy Castle. After wandering about the castle and its manicured gardens, you will take your place at a dinner in the ballroom that is accompanied by a classical piano recital.
The Grand Empress Steam Train
A new experience for 2019, on Magnificent Europe departures between April to September, follow in the footsteps of Elisabeth of Bavaria (Sisi) as you embark on an imperial train journey. Enjoy a Welcome Reception at Budapest Station’s Royal Waiting Room, then board your elegant steam train, which features some carriages from the early 1900s. A traditional game lunch worthy of royalty is served, before disembarking for a guided tour of Gödöllő Palace.
City Palace, Vienna
On our 15 day Magnificent Europe and 8 day Balkan Gems river cruises, you’ll attend an exclusive Cocktail Reception at Vienna’s City Palace. Then attend a private concert featuring members of the Mozart Boys’ Choir, a full orchestra performing classical masterpieces by Strauss and Mozart, and an operatic recital of some of the world’s most famous arias. In keeping with Viennese tradition, the evening draws to a close with a performance of the Radetzky March.
Château de Ferrand
Boasting stunning panoramic views over the Dordogne valley, nobody can resist the charm of Château de Ferrand. Having belonged to just two families in 300 years, the elegant architecture and environment of this magnificent 17th-century estate has been beautifully preserved since the reign of Louis XIV. Now managed by the Bich family, founders of the famous Bic pen company, be met upon arrival by a sommelier for a tasting followed by a private dinner on our 8 day Grand Bordeaux river cruise.
Palácio da Bolsa
A neoclassical, UNESCO World Heritage-listed monument built in the 19th-century, the Palácio da Bolsa is renowned for its impressive façade and gilded Arabian Hall. Located in the historic centre of Porto, honour Portugal’s exquisite past and present on our 9 day Douro Delights river cruise. Join a guided tour followed by a cocktail reception and traditional Fado performance.
In 1510, Benedictine monk and alchemist Dom Bernardo Vincelli created a secret elixir. Three hundred and fifty years later, Alexandre Le Grand found the recipe among his collection – thought to be lost during the French Revolution. Intrigued, Le Grand successfully recreated the mysterious liqueur which he called Bénédictine. He later built the Palais Bénédictine in honour of the liqueur, and it has been produced there ever since. An incredible tale of ancient and contemporary history, wander the intriguing museum and distillery, followed by a cocktail show and dinner on our 8 day Romantic Seine river cruise.
