Stay: Three Nights, Cairo, Four Seasons Nile Hotel Plaza

Your first full day in Egypt is spent exploring the country’s most ancient treasures - the pyramids, each of which was built for a past pharaho to hold their remains and help with their transition into the afterlife. After visiting the fascinating site, you’ll continue to explore the necropolises of Sakkara and Dahshur. Later, enjoy lunch with spectacular views of the pyramids.

Daily :
  • Breakfast
  • Lunch

Rise bright and early with the sun, soaking in the golden glow over Cairo. Today is spent at the historic Egyptian Museum where many artefacts from the Pharaonic period are on display along with an exhibit dedicated to Tutankhamen. From there you continue to the Citadel before dining on lunch at Naguib Mahfouz, a cafe dedicated to the famous Egyptian literary genius.

Daily :
  • Breakfast
  • Lunch

Depart Cairo this morning, boarding a flight to Abu Simbel where you’ll see the temples of Ramesses II and Nefertari. Continue to Aswan and visit a Nubian village where you’ll savour authentic local flavours at lunch.

Stay: Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Aswan

Daily :

  • Lunch

Board your intimate dahabiya, a traditional Egyptian sailing boat, this morning. The vessel has been privately chartered with only six cabins. Settle in before a range of sightseeing illuminates the region. Visit Philae Island and a temple dedicated to an Egyptian goddess which was almost entirely lost under water, and stop by a massive unfinished obelisk where tools left behind show how builders worked. The afternoon is then spent sailing to Kom Ombo where you see the Ptolemaic temple dedicated to the two gods Sobek and Horus.

Stay: Four Nights, Sanctuary Zein Nile Chateau

Daily :
  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Dinner

The ancient site of Selsela was once known as the Place of Rowing, and the bedrock here changes interestingly from limestone to sandstone. Visit the site after breakfast and then continue to sail to Edfu where an afternoon is spent at the Temple of Horus, the largest and most completely preserved Pharaonic temple in Egypt. Return to your ship later for dinner as you sail to Esna.

Daily :

  • Dinner

After breakfast, disembark for a trip to the Temple of Khnum. The hypostyle hall was crafted from a slit in the wall, the fantastic result of centuries of Nile floods. From here sail to Luxor and visit the temple dedicated to the god Amun which was built in 1380. Dinner is served back on board, and you overnight in Luxor.

FREEDOM OF CHOICE™ - Sightseeing

Perhaps venture to the Valley of the Queens where between 75 and 80 tombs were built for the wives and children of pharaohs. Maybe elect to visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, ancient Egypt’s only female pharaoh, or the Valley of Workers. Equally as interesting are the richly decorated Tombs of the Nobles, the series of temples of Medinet Habu, and the Ramesseum Temple.

Head to the Valley of the Kings where 62 tombs have been carved from desert rock and decorated for the generations of pharaohs. From here, you may select any three Freedom of Choice inclusions. After a massive day of sightseeing, visit the Temple of Karnak and see the vast area of pillars that is larger than the whole of the Notre Dame Cathedral. A final evening is spent on board in Luxor.

Daily :
  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Dinner

Disembark this morning and fly from Luxor to Cairo. Your evening is spent at the famous Sound and Light Show. The voices of pharaohs narrate the history of the temple complex, and shadows dance of the enormous columns.

Stay: Two Nights, Cairo, Four Seasons First Residence

Daily :
  • Breakfast

On your final day in Egypt, enjoy a walk through El-Moez street and take in the stunning old buildings and mosques. From here continue to Old Cairo and visit sites including the Hanging Church, St Sergius and Ben Ezra Synagogue. Enjoy a Farewell Dinner this evening.
