This morning, travel to Lake Argyle and join a wildlife cruise on the mighty Ord River. From its source below the King Leopold Ranges at Mount Wells, the Ord River flows over 550 kilometres, around the edge of Purnululu National Park, through Lake Argyle and along the western edge of Kununurra before draining into the Cambridge Gulf at Wyndham. From a modern shaded vessel, discover the area's ecological system that has developed from the damming of the Ord River at two locations. Pause for a buffet lunch by the river before continuing towards the Ord Top Dam. Here, leave your boat behind and enjoy a drive across the dam, stopping at a scenic lookout along the way to admire the views out over the river. Afterwards, pay a visit to the historic Durack Museum Homestead. Originally built in 1895 by the pioneering Durack family on Argyle Downs Station, the famous Durack family home became widely known as one of the social gathering places of the East Kimberley. The museum was constructed as a replica of the original family homestead and uses the original stone. After time to wander through the museum, return to your hotel.
