Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Palermo through the heart of this vibrant city. A local expert will show you the treasures of the bustling Arab-style open-air street markets -where you will have plenty of opportunities to sample the local produce as you wander the markets. Palermo’s history has made an imprint on the bazaars and markets of the town, which are as popular today with the locals as they ever were. You will also see medieval and Baroque churches with fascinating squares and fountains. Other highlights include the Palatine Chapel, the Royal Chapel of the Norman Kings of Sicily situated on the ground floor at the centre of the Royal Palace. Alternatively, enjoy a scenic drive to the south of Palermo to reach the town of Corleone, a lovely town that is unfortunately infamous for the social phenomenon known as the Mafia. Here, visit the CIDMA: International Centre of Documentation on Mafia and the Anti-Mafia Movement. You will be met by an in-house guide, who will provide an exceptional insight into this fascinating part of history. Afterwards, continue to Cefalu, a lovely coastal town of Norman origins that is part of the Madonie Natural Park, which is considered one of the loveliest Italian boroughs. Savour lunch in a local seafood restaurant. Then, enjoy a walk through this fascinating town before returning to Palermo.

After breakfast, travel to Erice, one of the finest medieval towns in Sicily, originally founded by the Greeks as part of the colonisation of Sicily in the 8th century BC. Afterwards, continue south to Trapani to see the natural reserve of Paceco. Here, you'll see the unique Salt Works Natural Reserve, which showcases a landscape not often found within Italy. It also plays home to a wide variety of unique fauna. Stop in Marsala, where you will visit one of the local wineries for a light lunch and sample their famous sweet wine varieties. This evening, arrive at your unique accommodation situated within the World Heritage-listed Archaeological Park of the Valley of the Temples. Here, you will enjoy dinner in a magical setting overlooking the temples.

During a guided tour of the Valley of the Temples, you will see some of the better maintained Greek Temples dating back to the 5th century BC. From Agrigento, head into the centre of Sicily and stop in Piazza Armerina to visit Villa del Casale. According to legend, the villa was built in the 4th century by a wealthy importer of wild beasts from Africa. The villa also boasts some of the most beautiful mosaics of the late Roman period.

This morning, journey to Modica before arriving in Noto, a delightful town that houses the loveliest examples of Baroque architecture in Sicily. Afterwards, arrive in Syracuse, founded by Greek political exiles around the 5th Century BC, which houses the magnificent Archaeological Park Neapolis. You will also enjoy a visit to the island of Ortigia, the Arethusa Spring and the Temple of Apollo before continuing to Taormina. This evening, perhaps wander up to the top of a rocky spur, or relax and absorb the sublime vistas from your hotel room, as you gaze out over Taormina and the sea beyond.
