Then, visit the striking rock formation of Roque de Agando, a volcanic plug marking the island’s core. See Funchal from above on a cable car ride to Monte, where you’ll enjoy exploring the district’s elegant palace and garden paradise. Sample the island’s specialities on a tasting tour at the farmers’ market, Mercado dos Lavradores. Start today by viewing Lisbon from the heights of Serra de Sintra, where mountains roll from each direction. Visit King Ferdinand II’s ingenious park and palace before exploring Sintra, where you’ll find elaborate facades and gardens at every turn. After lunch back on board, discover Portugal’s capital Lisbon with a guide. Take in the historic square, Praça do Comércio, and the city’s grand boulevards, including the Avenida de República. With the rest of the afternoon to yourself, track down Lisbon’s maritime past or the city’s famous egg-custard tarts.Daily :
The port of Figueira da Foz delivers you to the doorstep of Portugal’s medieval centre, Coimbra. The best way to explore is by foot with a guide, delving into one of the world’s oldest universities and its historic Chapel de São Miguel. After, sit back in a local restaurant for lunch and soak up the buzz of this elegant city, which overlooks the Rio Mondego. Set out for Porto, to uncover the city’s layered history, along the banks of the Douro River estuary. Then toast Porto’s wine-making traditions at a local wine cellar.
