From the port of Cádiz, a full-day tour reveals Reales Alcazares, which is a stunning collection of gardens built on the former site of a Moorish fortress. You'll also have the chance to wander through the charming Santa Cruz Quarter, and its Gothic cathedral, which also happens to be the resting place of Christopher Columbus. Take in Lisbon's many World Heritage-listed sites including the Belem Tower and Jernoimos Monastery. The elegant Belem Tower was initially built in the 15th century to defend the city from any unexpected attacks, and the monastery is a stunning example of Manueline architecture as well as the resting place of the renowned Portuguese explorer, Vasco da Gama. After, it's time for a private fado performance of traditional Portuguese music. Following the performance, you'll stop for a visit at the Gulbenkain Museum, and return to your ship where a delicious dinner is served in the onboard restaurant.Daily :
Once you have arrived in Portugal's second largest city, you'll have the chance to stretch your legs with a guided walking tour of the Old Town. You're taken to some of Porto's most famous sites including the neoclassical 19th-century Palácio de Bolsa. Since you're in the home of port wine, it's only fitting that you then tie off the day with a delicious tasting. Head to Vila Nova de Gaia, where there are many cellars, or caves as they're locally known, where much of the world's port wine is stored and aged.Daily :
Return to Spain this morning. You'll drop anchor at Isla Cies, an uninhabited archipelago, and step among the picturesque surrounds. Formerly an old pirates' haunt, the islands are now a pristine collection of white-sand beaches and towering pine forests.Daily :
Today is dedicated to the famous pilgrimage town and resting place of St James, Santiago de Compostela. From the port in A Coruña, head inland to visit the town's renowned cathedral, where every year thousands of pilgrims reconvene in a festive celebration of self-realisation and achievement. Witness the swinging of the botafumeiro and enjoy lunch in the uniquely Spanish setting of a local parador.Daily :
