Meet APT Tour Director – Felipe Voigt

Based in Chile, Felipe shares what he loves about changing views from his unqiue 'office'.

Felipe’s ‘office’ is a whole new take on hot-desking with changing views to rival any workplace in the world!

Felipe has been a South America Tour Director with APT for the past seven years and he can't wait to get back to his ‘office’. “I love the fact that my working place changes every time, depending on the travel program. Each journey is absolutely unique, depending on the situation and on the group members.” Working out of Chile with a great team makes all the difference too, he says.

Felipe’s journey to becoming an APT Tour Director began in Saarbrucken, Germany, where he was born, before his Chilean family – who had fled to Europe during Augusto Pinochet’s military coup in 1973 – decided to return to their homeland when he was 14.  “I was studying journalism in Valparaiso, and I started to guide for cruise groups that arrived during summer,” he recalls of his pathway into tourism.

“Later, I discovered the passion to lead groups into different cultural and wilderness encounters. “I like nature,” he adds, “so I love all of South America: the Galapagos, the Amazon, Patagonia, Antarctica, the Atacama Desert, the Caribbean Islands, the Iguassu waterfalls... They’re all very accessible here.
