The Kimberley

Map of the Kimberley, Western Australia
The gateway to the Kimberley, Broome is home to the sparkling Cable Beach. Explore the town and learn about how pearl diving put Broome on the map. Shop for locally made gifts at the Courthouse Markets. And of course, take a sunset camel ride along Cable Beach.
The Horizontal Falls is a feat of nature. The result of the Kimberley's incredible tides, water appears to squeeze between red cliffs to create a natural waterfall. Take a seaplane flight over the falls, then a speedboat ride through the falls - this experience is not for the faint-hearted.

Immerse yourself in the wilderness at Bell Gorge. Stunning cliffs surround a series of tiered waterholes and after a short hike down to the pool, you can take a dip and swim under the waterfall.

Most Kimberley Wilderness Adventures land tours include stays in the luxury tented cabins at APT's Bell Gorge Wilderness Lodge.

Discover the limestone cliffs and sandy riverbeds that make up Windjana Gorge. Look carefully and you may find ancient fossils in the rocky walls. You may even see freshwater crocodiles peeking out of the water. Further down the dirt road is Tunnel Creek. Climb through the rocky entrance and wade through the water as you navigate the dark tunnel. By torchlight, spot stalactites and the occasional sleeping bat before reaching the literal light at the end of the tunnel.
Discover the beauty of Mitchell Falls, with its tiered waterfalls and indigenous rock art. Hike to the top of the falls and swim in the upper pools. Take a scenic helicopter flight to get the best view (included in some tours). Stay at APT's exclusive Mitchell Falls Wilderness Lodge and relax by the private waterhole, find unique art at the Indigenous art gallery or simply enjoy the natural surrounds.
El Questro sprawls across 700,000 acres of the Kimberley at the eastern end of the Gibb River Road. Stay at Emma Gorge Resort and hike to Emma Gorge for a swim in the chilled waters under a droplet waterfall. Explore Zebedee Springs, a permanent natural thermal spring tucked away in a secluded pocket of rainforest.

Take the winding road through Purnululu National Park to the beehive domes that make up the Bungle Bungle Range. Get up close with a walk along Piccaninny Creek, through the gorge between the domes and up to Cathedral Gorge. Sunset at the Bungle Bungles is a unique experience; with your back to the sun, watch the colours of the beehive domes change.

Beyond the Bungle Bungles is Echidna Chasm, a walk that begins with tropical palms and ends in a narrow gorge. Learn the history behind the area and why it is named Echidna Chasm.

APT guests stay at the Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge with luxury tented accommodation, open-air dining and a campfire to relax and share experiences at the end of each day.

As the gateway to the East Kimberley, Kununurra is a Kimberley town with plenty to see and do.

Take a cruise along Lake Argyle and the mighty Ord River. Enjoy a famous Kimberley sunset from Lake Argyle with a dinner cruise. While in town, be sure to sample locally caught barramundi and rum from the nearby hoochery.

Many of our Kimberley coastal cruises begin Kununurra with included transfers to Wyndham Port.
